Siam Surprise
Want the sophistication of Thai cuisine but prefer a casual atmosphere and less strain on your wallet? The new Siam Surprise restaurant in Temecula is truly the crème de la crème, diamond in the rough, golden ticket for any Thai food connoisseur or culturally curious beginner. Along with its low prices, the restaurant, open daily from 11 a.m. to midnight and with dine in, to go, and delivery services, could very well receive the stamp of approval for accommodating the needs of a college student.… Post the First Comment

Beer of the Week

Land Shark Lager
Margaritaville Brewing Company brews Land Shark Lager in Jacksonville, Florida. Jimmy Buffett owns Buffet's Margaritaville Holding LLC, the parent company of the brewery. Originally, the brewery produced the lager solely for Margaritaville Restaurants. The lager's popularity grew and the brewery decided to sell the product nationwide in retail outlets. There are currently eight restaurants in the United States. The closest restaurants to CSUSM are located in Las Vegas, Nevada, and Glendale, Arizona. The remaining restaurants are located near Florida with the exception of one restaurant in Cancun, Mexico.… 1 Comment

Justin Nozuka... Man Crush?

Every night before I go to bed, I sit on the couch in the living room and go back and forth between MTV, VH1, and Fuse, watching music videos. It is late night so there are usually some odd videos on that either make me feel uncomfortable or like I am back in the 1960's. But on this special night while channel surfing, one of the most beautiful sounds I had ever heard came from VH1's Nocturnal State, a late night music program that plays up-and-coming artists.… Post the First Comment

Is Racism still alive and well in St. Augustine?

A new documentary looks at Florida in 1964 and now
Imagine being kicked out of a church, beaten, spat upon, mocked and called names, all because of the color of your skin. Most won't remember the events of the year 1964 in a place called St. Augustine, Florida because most of us weren't alive then, but there are a few who will remember the atrocious things that happened there. Sadly, through the decades that have passed, many of these individuals' stories have faded - until now.… 3 Comments

The Local Listen List

Ours Shows 'Mercy' To Their Listeners

By Gracing Them With A New Album
1If you could combine the vocal styles of Roy Orbison, Freddie Mercury, and Thom York of Radiohead - you would have Jimmy Gnecco of the band Ours, an alternative/rock/indie group from New York. Ours released their first album, "Sour," in 1994, on their own independent label, which did not do well, causing the band to dissolve and remain hidden for many years.… Post the First Comment

Artist Interview: Josh Damigo - The all-American artist

Artist Interview: Josh Damigo - The all-American artist
The San Diego music scene has always had a flourishing singer/songwriter community. The latest addition to the local scene is artist Josh Damigo. Full of sensitive lyrics and catchy hooks, Damigo's style is comparable to that of John Mayer, Ernie Halter, and Jason Mraz. A West Coast boy at heart, and a die-hard Boston sports fan, Damigo is hitting the music industry hard. Just back from auditions for "Nashville Star," Damigo's slight country vibe and serenading soul will melt the heart of listeners across the nation.… 1 Comment

Book Review

"I Hope They Sell Beer in Hell"
The New York Times' bestseller "I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell" is by Duke and the University of Chicago alum, Tucker Max. The novel is a hilarious romp through the wild stories of Tucker Max's life, which makes "National Lampoon's: Van Wilder" seem tame by comparison. The stories include such antics as "Tucker goes to Vegas," and "The Now Infamous Tucker Max Charity Auction Debacle."… Post the First Comment
