This year, for the first time, the CSUSM Athletic department will host a 5k race to benefit student athletes. On May 3 at 5pm, runners will make their way around the school campus in celebration of the end of the school year in the Diploma Dash.

Students and runners can register online at the Athletic department's website. Early registration is $25, while it is $35 the day of the race.

According to the Athletic department, all proceeds will go toward student-athlete scholarships. Rather than an early morning race, the department set the race time for 5 p.m. to avoid the heat and accommodate student's study time.

This historic event in the school history will also include shirts commemorating the first annual race, awards per age group, and post race festivities to meet student-athletes and coaches. After a year of class work, the Athletic department says this is way to celebrate the end of the school year and the graduates.
